World car free day

At PENDLR, our mission is to make daily travel more flexible efficient and greener. While we do not completely reject the car, we strongly believe in the power of cycling and other forms of micro-mobility - especially for all daily trips in and around the city. This vision fits perfectly with the message of European Mobility Week, which takes place this week. An important part of this week is the car-free day - a powerful symbol for more sustainable transport choices. The origins of the car-free day Car-free day has an interesting history. It began in the Netherlands and Belgium during the Suez crisis in 1956, when limited oil reserves led to the introduction of car-free Sundays. This was later repeated during the 1973 oil crisis, this time on a global scale. In the 1990s, the day took on a new meaning: raising environmental awareness. In 1998, several French cities launched their own car-free day, with the support of the French Environment Ministry. This successful initiative eventually led to the creation of the annual European Car-Free Day, which became part of European Mobility Week in 2002. This week provides cities with a platform to highlight environmentally friendly transport options, such as cycling and public transport. The shift to more sustainable transport There has been an increasing focus on the environment and sustainability in recent years, and how we move around every day is an important part of that. In more and more cities, cars are being deliberately reduced to make room for cleaner, more efficient transport alternatives. This transformation is well visible in cities such as Paris, where a study by the Institut Paris Region (IPR) shows that bicycles are now more popular than cars in the city centre. In the Netherlands too, we see a clear growth in the number of cyclists, according to research by the Shuttel, employers help their employees to make cycling for commuting more attractive. In addition, the use of shared micromobility - such as e-scooters and shared bicycles - has grown significantly in recent years. Data from NUMO shows that the number of cities with shared micromobility doubled between 2019 and 2023.Moreover, according to McKinsey research, the number of people open to using micromobility as part of their daily travel is growing. Although the car remains dominant for now, the shifts towards more sustainable transport options are increasingly significant. Reshaping daily commutes At PENDLR, we also see this development. Although the car still plays a major role, we believe in the growing use of bicycles and other forms of micromobility for all daily travel: from commuting to work and shopping, to delivering parcels to customers' homes. Therefore, we offer a carefully curated range of products that support this sustainable mobility. This is how we continue to build on our mission! Below is a selection of the sustainable means of transport in our range, but please note that above all, we also offer many parts and accessories for these means of transport. Join us on our mission! Will you join us in making daily journeys more flexible, efficient and greener? And would you also like to sell these unique and exclusive brands? Together, we can make a difference!

Parts for VanMoof bikes

At PENDLR, we’re more than just a wholesaler—we’re your partner in micromobility. That’s why we’re introducing parts that fit VanMoof bikes perfectly. Alongside practical information, insights, and tips, we’re making it possible for your customers to bring their defective VanMoof bikes to you. Together, we’ll get VanMoof riders back on the bike path! And this is just the beginning—more bike brands are on the way... Together we'll get VanMoof riders back on the road Micromobility for us is all about light, sustainable means of transport for daily use in and around the city. Our range focuses on products that improve these journeys. We offer all the essential parts and accessories you and your customers need. For example, also the parts for maintenance and repair of VanMoof bikes. How and why did we start with parts for VanMoof bikes? When VanMoof went bankrupt, a huge demand arose among VanMoof cyclists as to where they could go for maintenance or repair of their bikes. However, because the bike has very specific parts that are not readily available everywhere, bike shops had to leave these customers out in the cold. That's where PENDLR wanted to help, with suitable parts, help and advice. A year later, VanMoof has made a relaunch and we give them heartfelt credit for that. Still, we are happy to share the offer we can make from PENDLR for VanMoof and other city bikes. Range of VanMoof parts Our range for VanMoof bikes consists not only of existing mechanical parts, but also of specially designed products. As a result, you can always find the right part for your customer. For example, we offer both an A-option close to the original and a B-option of better quality. Examples of our products include the custom-made Roland wheel, Tektro brake pads and discs, the Primax pushbutton holder that works perfectly with Tektro brake pads, and the black Innova tyre without reflectors. And for electrical problems, we collaborate with KWS Seuren, so you'll find a solution for that too. Stronger together. Here’s how we made it happen... In collaboration with experienced service points, we looked at the most common questions and defects on VanMoof bikes & together with our suppliers, we gathered the necessary parts accordingly. And for electronic support, we teamed up with KWS Seuren. During the rollout of this range, we collected feedback from our dealers & learned that besides being able to find suitable parts at all, their quick availability & delivery was very important. ''The availability and speed of delivery is the reason we buy these products from PENDLR.'' Euro Tweewielers Leiden (NL) But when we asked if there was a need for help generating publicity, it turned out there was absolutely no need, as the repair requests came in of their own accord and frequently. And although VanMoof has since relaunched, the demand for our parts remains high. So it's definitely worth checking out our range. ''We are already very busy, without giving extra publicity to it.'' Fevzi Scooters PENDLR: the one stop shop for all parts and accessories Our extensive range includes parts for VanMoof bikes, but also for other city bikes and forms of micromobility. So with these products, you will always have a suitable solution for your customers. Can we help you too? Become a PENDLR customer and you will find everything you need to keep city bikes moving.

Professional workplace design at Bike Totaal Ton Koning

Recently, PENDLR took care of the refurbishment of Bike Totaal Ton Koning's workshop. We spoke to Jan Bond, the owner, to hear how he, the staff and his customers like the new set-up. A neater and more efficient workplace According to Jan Bond, the biggest change was that the workplace is now much neater and more organised. Previously, the workplace was an open space without walls, which meant everyone could see all the bikes and materials mixed up. Now there is a clear separation, so customers only see the part where work is actually done on bikes. This creates more peace and space, and it leaves a much more professional impression on customers. Smooth cooperation with PENDLR ‘We have been working with Kruitbosch for 30 years, so it was natural that we would approach them for this redesign,’ says Jan. ‘The cooperation went very smoothly. We already had some ideas of our own and together with Roeland from PENDLR we were able to develop them into a practical and efficient layout.’ Improved functionality and efficiency One of the main improvements was the introduction of new, organised cabinets. ‘The old cabinets were over 25 years old and not very practical. Now we have cabinets with layouts in the drawers, which contributes to neatness and clarity,’ says Jan. In addition, the redesign has led to a more efficient working environment. ‘We now work closer together, which at first took getting used to, but now it ensures that we can help each other more easily and quickly. There is less walking through the workplace and everyone can work from their own workstations. This all contributes to efficiency.’ Positive customer reactions Customers respond positively to the new workplace. ‘Many customers even startle a little when they enter the workplace and say, ‘Did I accidentally walk into the shop?’’ laughs Jan. ‘The reactions are very positive, people notice that it is more spacious and tidy. The space hasn't changed, but the new layout makes it seem more spacious.’ An inspiring example for the future Jan is very satisfied with the cooperation and the final result. ‘I would definitely recommend PENDLR's services to other dealers. The process went smoothly and the result is above expectations.’ The workplace layout at Ton Koning is therefore a shining example of what can be achieved with dedication, expertise and a shared vision. We look forward to many more years of successful collaborations and innovative projects that transform workplaces. Would you also like to have your workplace redesigned by PENDLR? Workplace design Tweewielerhoek Reinier

Wiechel van Heerde has been the proud owner of Tweewielerhoek Reinier in Kampen since 2020. After working in the shop for 20 years, he took over the business. Over the past year, several aspects of the bike shop have been upgraded, including a complete overhaul of the workshop. Check out Tweewielerhoek Reinier's brand-new workshop setup and find out what Wiechel thinks of the new design! Wiechel van Heerde has been the proud owner of Tweewielerhoek Reinier in Kampen since 2020. After 20 years of working in the shop, he took the leap and became its owner. Over the past year, several updates have been made to the bike shop, including a complete overhaul of the workshop. Hi Wiechel, why was it time for a new workshop layout? "The workshop was outdated. The equipment was aging and needed replacing. The workbench itself was already 20 years old. The compressor was a 10-year-old machine and was placed on a wooden floor, so you can imagine the noise it made," Wiechel explains. What factors did you consider when choosing the new workshop? "First, you look at what appeals to you—that's very important to me. A PENDLR advisor provided recommendations and gave me confidence. Despite offers from other parties, I chose PENDLR because I've been doing business with them for 20 years—simple as that. I also really appreciate when my loyal customers keep coming back." "I feel happy when I walk into the workshop now. It’s truly neat, everything is beautifully organized, and it looks so professional!"What do you think of the end result? "I feel happy every time I walk into the workshop now. What I like most is how neat it is. It’s no longer a jumble of tools—everything is neatly organized in drawers. It looks so professional. We’re still getting used to putting everything back in its place, but in the long run, it saves time and makes tools much easier to find." What has the feedback been on the new workshop? "We’ve received a lot of positive reactions. Customers can see that we’re making upgrades. I think most of them are happy for us and feel that it looks great and very professional." You’ve also purchased a battery cabinet. How did that decision come about? "Safety was a key reason for getting a battery cabinet. Our shop is located in the city center, and we also have apartments above us. I also wanted a dedicated place for the batteries and chargers. Previously, the batteries were scattered around the shop. Modernizing the store is important to us, and meeting new safety standards is part of that—and the battery cabinet fits right in. I think it’s only a matter of time before insurers start requiring a battery cabinet in workshops." Curious about what’s possible for your workshop? Imagine a workshop that even inspires your messiest colleagues to stay organized. At PENDLR, we love helping you create a professional workspace tailored to your needs. From understanding your preferences and providing expert advice to delivering the perfect setup—we’re with you every step of the way. Does that sound good? Become a PENDLR customer today or get in touch with us to explore the possibilities for your new workshop setup. No strings attached!
