Which ART security rating does your customer need?
For a standard city bike, an ART-2 approved lock is the minimum required by most insurers. For e-bikes and higher-value bicycles, an ART-3 approved lock is often recommended and, in some cases, even required. Knowing this helps you recommend the right lock when selling a bicycle.
Does your customer need one or two locks?
For higher-value bicycles, many insurers require a combination of a frame lock and an additional chain lock or folding lock. A frame lock alone is often not enough to qualify for full theft coverage. As a retailer, it's best to advise your customers to use two locks.
